ĐĐ Kotlovi produced and mounted hot water boiler plant on biomass with maximum heat capacity of 4MW at sawmill MMM-Vukelić, Novska.The plant is intended for production of thermal energy from wood residues. It is aimed for supplying technological consumers with thermal energy. In this case, client already had boiler whose performances were not as declared one. Instead of 4 MW that boiler could barely reach1.5 MW, which was insufficient for the needs of production.

Client's demands:

  • Ensured heat capacity of the boiler and equipment in the range 3-4 MW
  • Provided heat to the water outlet of the boiler in the range 160-170oC
  • Ensured safe and reliable performance at sawdust burning
Project solution
The subject plant is conceptualized so that the combustion of wood residues release available thermal energy in the form of hot water in order to fulfill the set of energy and temperature regimes of technological consumers exploitation, under optimal technical and statutory environmental requirements. The available wood residues, used as energy fuel, are storedin the floor depot of 36m3 working volume, which is sufficient for 16 working hours oft hermal power plants at consumers' nominal load of aprox.3200 kW. Fuel is transported by the floor extractor and the worm gear conveyor to the dosing container, and from it to the hot water boilers adiabatics wirling furnace by dosing worm gear conveyor and flow of primary air. After entering the furnace, initiated by the accumulated heat and the temperature of fireclays walling up to 650/1000oC, comes to self-ignition of fuel. The end goal of fuel burning process are flue gases temperature up to1000/1150oC which produce hot water by passing through the boilers heating surfaces, and when they get cold being drain into the atmosphere by the exhaust ventilator through theflue gas overthe chimney. Separation of ash is done within cyclone filter as a part of the flue gastract, and the same being collected in the portable ashes containers.

Auto
maintenance of overpressure and expansions, and if necessary, supplementing of hot water system with water is done by system which consists of a pump, atmospheric vessel and overflow valve. All devices and segments of the plant are connected in the functional unit of automatic controlled mechanized fuel supply through equipment of the control cabinet. All vital functions of plants could be controlled manually. The plant is placed in the space(LxWxH)18x12x8 m.

Project achievements:

  • Water temperature at the outlet of the boiler is165oC.
  • Operation of the boiler plantis fully automatic.
  • Flue gas temperatures are very low (185-195oC) and boiler efficiency rateis very high.
  • Fuel handling, combustion andfiltering flue gases are controled automatically.
  • Economical operation of the boiler (low consumption of biofuels).
  • Increased production of veneer for 10 to15% compared to the previous state.
  • Safe and reliable operation of automatic boiler.
